FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU OFFER HEALTH FUND REBATES ON YOUR TREATMENTS?

Yes! If you have the appropriate ancillary cover with your health fund, rebates are available for Remedial Massage treatments only. For your convenience, HICAPS is also available for immediate rebates to save you $$ at time of treatment. Please ensure you check your rebate levels and cover prior to your appointment to avoid disappointment at time of payment. Rebates vary between providers and coverage types and I am unable to provide quotes for your personal account prior to your treatment. Please explore these options for yourself with your provider.

WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE?

I began my formal massage education in 2001 after being blessed with practical informal training by my incredibly talented massage therapist mother from 1995.

In 2004 I obtained my Cert. IV of Massage Therapy through the incomparable Massage Schools of Queensland and went on to practice in a multitude of environments gaining experience in elite sports therapies, spa therapies and corporate industry massage.

In 2007 I returned to MSQ with a wealth of industry experience to complete my Diploma of Remedial Massage Therapy. My focus has since been remedial therapies and combined relaxation and deep tissue therapies.

I am a registered Diploma member of Massage & Myotherapy Australia, respectfully bound by an industry Code of Ethics and continually engage in ongoing education to better my knowledge and experience in both the professional and practical modalities.

SHOULD I AVOID EXERCISE OR WEIGHT TRAINING AFTER MY MASSAGE?

I am a big believer that a mobile body is an able body. Most definitely continue with your usual activities. If you are usually sedentary, a short, relaxing walk would be most beneficial. If you had planned on doing a gym workout, then go right ahead, with considerations. For example; say you had planned on doing a heavy power weights session, I would likely suggest a lighter weights, or cardio or stretch session to better utilise all the benefits of your massage treatment.

DO YOU USE A SPECIAL TABLE FOR YOUR PREGNANCY MASSAGE?

Oh the joys of pregnancy! If it were only as simple as finding a position that we are comfortable laying in..

Having enjoyed all the wonders of my own pregnancy, I am fully aware of just how unaccommodating our blossoming bellies can be when we have a massage.

While pregnancy massage aids such as the cut-out table pieces can be of benefit to some, it is certainly not a one-size fits all option.

I find performing the massage in a side-lying position works best. The client is able to lay in a way that is most comfortable to them, with additional pillows and towels for extra support and modesty. If at any point they becomes uncomfortable, we are a lot freer to move around and find the most supportive position.
